Mission
Structure, when nothing else can see it.
Every crystal has a structure – but for a century, crystallography could only read the ones large enough to grow. ELDICO exists to close that gap. We make electron diffraction a dependable, everyday method – as a contract-research service and as the ED-1, the first instrument built for it – so that R&D and quality teams get a definitive structural answer for the nanocrystals, trace phases and precious samples conventional methods leave unresolved.
Our ambition is simple: no solid-form question left open for want of a bigger crystal.
Where we are
Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area
ELDICO is based at the Main Campus in Allschwil – part of the Basel life-sciences cluster, a hub of 700+ life-sciences and deep-tech companies on a campus designed by Herzog & de Meuron. From here we work with pharma, agrochemical, fine-chemical and academic partners internationally.

Milestones
How we got here.
Founded in Basel
ELDICO is founded; the first ED-1 prototype is developed with support from the Swiss Nanoscience Institute (Nano-Argovia programme).
First structure
The first crystal structure is solved on a dedicated electron diffractometer.
ED-1 & Experience Centre
The first ED-1 unit begins operation, and the world's first Electron Diffraction Experience Centre opens in Basel.
Into the field
ED-1 installations begin at leading institutes; Stockholm University adopts the ED-1.
Max-Planck-Institut
An ED-1 is delivered to the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung, one of Europe's leading chemistry research institutes.
Triclinic Labs
Triclinic Labs deploys the ED-1, adding dedicated electron diffraction to its solid-state characterisation services.
Holodiag & Quantum Design
Holodiag brings the ED-1 into its solid-state service offering; a Quantum Design distribution partnership extends the ED-1's reach.
Diffraction as a service
The ED-CRO contract-research service launches, opening electron diffraction to labs without an instrument of their own.
Asia-Pacific
First dedicated MicroED deployment in the Asia-Pacific region, with Crystal Pharmatech.
