We are proud to have been granted the European Commission’s Seal of Excellence: an award aimed at recognizing the disruptive innovations that can change the future of research. The seal certificates high quality proposals and is co-signed by the Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel, and the Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira.

The freshly-awarded EU Seal of Excellence accompanies a list of impressive previous international acknowledgements, such as: Breakthrough of the Year by the world-renowned publication Science, finalist for the highly-competitive Swiss Innovation Challenge and recipient of the R&D 100 Award, among others

ELDICO is actively advocating for a device fully dedicated to ED – the electron diffractometer – a project that has continued to spark a lot of interest in the scientific community, for obvious reasons. Electron diffraction is important – it already starts making a difference in drug discovery and many other fields. It is indeed a technique that enables convenient access to structure determination on samples in the sub-µm regime and thus has great transformative potential.

‘ELDICO‘s dedicated electron diffractometer is a well advanced instrument concept that will enable analysis of nano-sized solid compounds. Organic chemists will be among the first users to learn about and appreciate the advantages of this disruptive technology. We are currently in dialogue with many user groups and are finding a keen awareness of the methodology itself as well as great interest in our instrument concept that will beat the «retrofitted» electron microscopes in terms of usability, quality, time to obtain data and – last but not least – in cost’, says Eric Hovestreydt, ELDICO’s CEO.

Moreover, ELDICO’s diffractometer prototype is assembled and working, feat that was achieved in line with the company’s long-term development plan.
